The temperature sticker lets you add the current temperature of your location when you are posting 
. It uses your phone’s GPS to track your current location. The sticker then finds the temperature of where you are and adds it to the story.
You might be wondering why you would want to add temperature to your Instagram story. If you are in your hometown, there’s no real reason to. But when you are traveling outside the state or country, it can be exciting to share the temperature of the travel destination with your friends.
I remember how excited I was while adding the temp sticker to my Instagram stories when I visited Klink, Greenland, one of the coldest places in the world!

Why Can’t You Add The Temp Sticker?
The steps to adding temperature to Instagram stories are fairly straightforward. However, you may face some challenges. Sometimes, you will not find the temp sticker.
I faced the same temperature sticker issue. This was when I went to see Colosseum in Italy back in 2021. It was very frustrating. All I wanted to do was click an image of the amphitheater and 
. There were many other stickers, but I could not find the temp sticker in the list.
That’s when I started looking for the reasons and found 3 common issues. Here are the three reasons that can stop you from adding temperature on Instagram story.
Denied Location Access
The temp sticker gets live temperature through your location. Hence, it must access your location to fetch and show the temperature. But if you haven’t granted the location access, the Instagram app will not show you the temperature sticker at all.
If you have denied Instagram access to your phone’s location, the Instagram app won’t be able to fetch location data.
You can see this in the images below. I have denied Instagram access to location services.
Be it because of an unstable internet connection, a VPN, or something else. There are many scenarios when the GPS is inaccurate. This inaccuracy can lead to wrong temperature data or even the temperature sticker not showing at all.
Old Instagram
The Instagram sticker feature was launched in December 2016. If you use an Instagram app version released before December 2016, there will be no stickers. It is a rare scenario that someone will be using a 2016 version until now. But it’s always best to be sure.
How To Fix The Missing Temp Sticker Issue?
I have discussed some of the issues that can stop you from adding the temp sticker. Now, I will go through different ways to fix temperature sticker issue.
Grant Location Access
If the problem is due to denied access to the location, the solution is simply enabling your location in your settings. The location settings may differ slightly depending on whether you use an iPhone or an Android device. Here’s how you can do it on each device type.
iPhone
Here’s how iOS users can grant access to the location to Instagram.
- Open settings.
- Scroll down and select Instagram.
